The difference between Climate and Weather

Climate describes the weather over a long period of time. For an example, summer can be hot and winters can be cold.  It depends on which side of the equator it’s on. The closer you are to the equator the hotter it is.

Weather is short term. For example daily. It can be rain, thunderstorm, sunny, hail, blizzard and they all happen with different types of clouds. Rain would happen with Stratonimbus or Stratus clouds. Sunny weather would happen with cumulus clouds. Thunder storms would probably be a cumulonimbus cloud or Stratonimbus.

That is the difference between Weather and Climate.

  1. Hi Sophie,
You did a great job explaining the difference between the two. Time span is keep – climate is a pattern from year to year and weather changed daily.
You examples make your thinking clear.
